Audio From the Past [E01] - WW2 - Avro Lancaster Crew Radio In 1943, the Royal Air Force began a night bombing campaign against Germany, the like of which had never been seen before. Over the next twelve months, tens of thousands of aircrews flew across the North Sea to drop their bombs on german cities. They were opposed by the full force of the Luftwaffe, but also by a nightmare of flak, treacherously icy conditions and constant mechanical malfunctions. Most of these crews never finished their tour of operations, but were either shot down and killed, or taken prisoner by an increasingly hostile enemy. This radio chatter clip is from a Lancaster Bomber which is flying a mission over Germany during World War Two. The bomber is attacked by a German fighter later on in the clip. The crew seems to panic as the fighter engages them, and the captain at one point shouts "Okay, don't shout all at once!" Eventually one of the gunners manages to bring down the German fighter. Vietnam War Radio Audios are cool but to hear one from World War Two is especially rare and unique!
4 Alarm Fire with people trapped and Firefighter Mayday, Lancaster PA, 225 E Madison St. A 37 y/o woman and a 6 y/o girl died in the fire. 2 firefighters were injured, one seriously, while trying to rescue the pair. A flashover on the second floor trapped one firefighter and caused the other to jump from the building. First indication a firefighter is in trouble is heard at 2:59. Audio has been edited, removing 'dead air' and some radio irrelevant traffic, so the time line is condensed. Brought to you by http://Alertpage.net

Here is a very special treat! It's an audio version of the movie starring BURT LANCASTER and BARBARA STANWYCK . . . It's from Lux Radio Theater in1950 with the audio nicely cleaned up! If you've heard this before, you'll notice a HUGE improvement here! (The only existing recording available prior to this sounded extremely itchy and scratchy) This version sounds SO MUCH better than older uploads. ✓Interesting STUFF-N-SUCH: This is the first Classic Radio Drama turned into a film, and then BACK AGAIN as a Radio Drama! √ A little more STUFF-N-SUCH: This Lux Broadcast was 68 years ago on January 9, 1950. The film version and the one here a very different from the original Suspense radio broadcast. The movie was released in 1948, and the original Suspense radio play (with Agnes Moorehead...
